Hi!

My name's Jamie. With over 2 years experience working in software development, I've worked on a lot of projects in different areas and this is my site to show it off!

QA

QA is a topic I'm deeply passionate about. Supporting development teams with not just structured regression tests but big picture insight that guides the project forward is the value I instil into my teams as QA Manager.

As QA Manager, I've built and executed manual test plans as well as test suites for backend APIs. I've used Selenium and Postman to begin to automate tests that required many repetitions. I've worked with HR to hire new QA engineers, then develop them with personal development plans. I've even reached out to other QA Managers for industry advice, which I used to implement TestRail at the company from our funding pot.

I've also participated in many demos and events! This includes countless in house demos where I supported sales and marketing colleagues with my expertise of  the product, but also demoing at BETT 2024, OSE 2023 and Future Fwd 2023, where we built a VR tracking volume inside Warwick castle!

Project Management

Working so closely with the development teams made the transition to project management easy when I asked for the opportunity. I've project managed the creation of content for Stage, an educational VR app before being offered the opportunity to lead the development of the app itself.

As the project manager for content, I would work with a small in-house team of developers and 3D artists to take ideas for VR lessons from the concept page to the headset. We built content for construction, history and science that provided our partner colleges with high quality VR experiences for their classrooms.

Now, as the project manager for the app itself I work using agile methodology to lead the team and work directly with the C-suite to follow our roadmap. I help stakeholders understand the development timeline, and help developers to understand the bigger picture of the business and build better features.

Personal Projects

I love getting involved and learning from other people about topics I'm interested in. Some of my hobbies include playing music, cooking, travelling and working on personal projects.

Having grown up playing video games, I love building small games to test my knowledge. I also love boardgames, and it's these two interests I combined when I made the game shown in the video, which takes the simple game of Hexapawn and builds and polishes the concept using Unity. Source code can be found here

I also picked up an interest in electronics at University. I used Arduino chips as part of my modules, and I still enjoy messing about with them. For example, for Christmas I used NeoPixels to build a set of custom Christmas lights, in the video you can see the chip rotating through the random assortment of light settings I'd built.

Outside of software and hardware projects, I've played guitar and bass for around 12 years, and have been part of multiple bands and played a few gigs. I've recently gotten into travelling, and have done multiple solo trips to places on my bucket list. I'm also an avid cook, and love to cook Greek and Mexican food, which happen to me a couple of my favourite cuisines.
